Where are the men in my life??

Golfing. It's 9PM, dark outside and my hubby and son have not returned from the club - golf club that is. After dinner tonight they took off to golf together. Nathan told Wyatt this morning that they may go and Wyatt has been talking about it all day!! I've learned that two year olds don't understand the word MAY. If you mention it, you better plan on doing it!! :) Something tells me that there will be many more nights like this in my future. They both share an intense love for the game!!

Well, I dressed Lauren and Wyatt and realized they were dressed in color coordinated outfits. What did that tell me?? Perfect day for a photo!!

At first Lauren agreed, but Wyatt didn't think it was a great idea.

I'm Feeling....

In graduate school, I learned all about analyzing the drawings of children and how to ask questions to get them to express themselves. I promised myself then that I would never try to analyze anybody or anything outside of work. I don't think I have ever used any of my psychology training on Wyatt, but he often says...

"That makes me feel....." and fills in the blank with words like sad, happy, or excited.



It breaks your heart when you do something, and he looks calmly at you and says, "Mommy, that makes me feel sad." Or, "Mommy, don't do that. That makes me feel sad." He said that this morning when I threatened time out.

So, in a nutshell, somewhere along the way, I think I have used my psychology training directly on him. I don't think I have said, "Wyatt, tell me, how does that make you feel?" But, with the way he talks, I think I must have sub-consciously said something at some point!! At least he is expressing he feelings with words and not actions like hitting. Let's hope it stays that way!!

Our Retirement

Aunt Kriya and Uncle Beau loaned Wyatt some of Wade's golf clubs. Thanks Baby Wade!! We are looking to buy some, but have not made the purchase yet. This is Wyatt's first adventure out with real clubs. They are a little heavy for him. Despite the weight, I think he did pretty darn good for a two year old.

Cloudy day at the beach=head to the park with cousins

Wyatt LOVES to come to SSI and visit my nephew's Thomas and Grant. It's always so much fun for him!!! On our cloudy Saturday, instead of going to the beach, we went to the new park by the pier and then to the village for some ice cream.

First Day at the Beach

Lauren had her first day at the beach on Friday. I know I am biased, but she was cutest beach bunny I had ever seen. :) She loved the sand, which was just so much fun. The challenge of the day was keeping her from grabbing a handful and putting it in her mouth!!

Brookhaven Bolt

As most of you know, Wyatt LOVES to run!! Yesterday, he ran in his first fun run!! We were at the start point and when they blew the horn to begin, Wyatt began to cry. The horn and the 100 other children screaming was a little much. Nathan and I had plans to run the adult portion the race - three miles. When we told Wyatt we would just go do that, he cried harder. He was a two year old in turmoil. He wanted to jog with the children but was scared. Our solution?? Wyatt and I went around the front of the school and jumped in mid way where the children were running. He finished strong with a smile on his face.


I had told him Aunt She-sha was coming to see him and that she would be at the finish line. As SOON as he got to the line, he looked around and said, "where is my Aunt She-Sha??" Due to the roads being closed, she was unable to make it by the time Wyatt finished. She, however, showed up just a few minutes later! Thanks Alicia for coming to support little Wyatt.

After the kids started their run, the adults started. Wyatt and I sat and waited for Daddy to arrive with Baby Lauren and we joined in. Wyatt was not ready to stop running so he ran a little longer. Go Forrest Go.


He sat with Lauren for the remainder of the run until the finish line!!! WE FINISHED!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all of my Blog Reading Mommies

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mommies! Even to the mommies of our furry friends! :)

I have had a wonderful day. I, so graciously, was given the opportunity to sleep in (well, until 8AM). At 8, I was greeted by a husband, son, daughter and puppy. My hubby and son brought me breakfast in bed. It was delicious, although my daughter kept trying to get my delicious food so that she could eat it for herself. :) She is very into finger foods now!!

After a few morning snuggles, we headed to the zoo for a day of fun!! It was really lots of fun. Now the exhausted kiddos are sleeping. Once they wake up, we will be heading to Nonna and GG's house for dinner! Our camera died right when I took the first pic at the zoo, so I have nothing to show for our trip. :( Maybe I will have a few from our cookout!!

Now, off to relax.... I hope all you other mommies are doing the same!!!

The blog that just keeps on going and going

I have not blogged in a while. Not because I didn't want to, but because I have been extremely busy. Since Easter, I have hardly had two seconds. When I did have time, I found myself exhausted in bed. It's times like this month that I find myself jealous of friends that have nannys once a week even when they don't work or a housekeeper to help them to keep the house clean. Oh, how I could have used that this past month!!

I taught two classes this semester at Georgia State. Reminder to self next semester....don't have 2 major projects and a take home final due the same night! It was a grading nightmare!! That was just one of the many major stressors this month. Overall, however, I survived and now summer is upon us. The next set of blogs include the events of the past few weeks in the Reuter household.

Aunt Bev's Trip to Atlanta

My cousin came into town and we went to not one, but two concerts. We went to Jimmy Buffett and Seal. Both were lots of fun. Heidi Klum was at Seal's concert, so that was an added bonus. She is just as beautiful in jeans and no make-up as she is on the runway!! I usually only blog about Wyatt and Lauren events, but here is a pic from the concert:



It was a girls trip to Buffet, but Nathan joined in for the Seal concert!! We rarely get dates, so it was a fun night out for us!!

Wyatt LOVES his Aunt Bev!! We wish she would come back!!!! If anyone knows of a hot, single guy in Atlanta I could set her up with, let me know!! That might get her here!! ;)

Lauren's Baby Dedication

We had a Dedication for Lauren this past month. It was a very nice ceremony for us. We had our family and closests friends there. My brother, who is a pastor, did the ceremony; and Aunt Kriya sang for us. Nathan's mom and step-father worked very hard on making it look beautiful and despite the threatening rain....it was perfect!! Here are some pics of Baby Lauren's day:







Nathan's family has a baptism gown that has been used by several family members for years and years. If I can remember correctly, his great grandmother made the lace on the slip. We were not sure if the gown would fit Lauren so my mom found a beautiful dress for her. As suspected, the gown was tight on her chubby arms, but she was able to wear the beautiful slip underneath her dress. It was very special to me that Lauren was able to participate in the family tradition. If we have a third, I will have to plan the baptism a little earlier so they can wear the gown too!! Here is a picture of Lauren in the slip!!

SSI Trip

As a School Psychologist, you have to obtain 150 continuing education hours every 5 years. Since I have not been working, I've been slack about getting my hours. This year the Georgia Association of School Psychologists had their conference on St. Simons Island, one street over from my parents. How perfect is that? A conference, free babysitter and the beach!!! While I attended the conference, my children enjoyed the company of my parents. I personally think Wyatt could have cared less if I left for Atlanta. He slept every night in between them in bed. One night when I tried to go say good night to him he said, "No mommy. You go upstairs and sleep. Wyatt sleeps with Mimi and PaPa." When I explained I was only coming for a kiss, he replied, "oh." He gave me a quick peck and sent me on my way. I wonder why he loved it so much? He either went to sleep with the TV on or with my mom singing to him. Amazingly when we got back to Atlanta he went to sleep with no problem in his choo choo bed. I thought for sure it was going to be a rough transition.

My dad loved having his little buddy there. They went to Folkston (paradise for any train-aholic) to watch trains, to the beach to play football, to the playground to swing and to the pier to watch the boats and fishermen. Below are some pictures of our ride on a 4 person bicycled. My dad and I peddled along, while the kiddos enjoyed the ride.



While my dad explored the island with Wyatt, my mom stayed at home with Lauren. Some may not believe this, but Lauren had days (and nights) of fussiness. It wore me out. I think she may have gained 10 pounds while we were down there because I found myself nursing her all night. She woke up every hour or so. She never had done this before - ever! I heard her cry more in those few days more than I had ever heard her cry in her entire life. The culprit.....the development of Object Permanence and her first tooth!!!


My cousins had tons of games, and Wyatt loved every minute of it - soccer and baseball.

And finally, the highlight of every trip to SSI, the beach! Wyatt loves the beach! He especially loves it when he gets to spend time with his cousins there!!

Baby Hayes

Nathan's cousin and her husband, Brian, added to the family soccer team. Due to not wanting to take rugrats with runny noses to their house, we have not met him yet. Noses are clear though (finally), and we plan to meet him tomorrow!!! :)

Lauren has graduated to the big girl car seat. I no longer have a baby in an infant carrier.
